In honor of this wonderful Valentines Day, in midst of a long New England winter, I had to dig out this photo. This is how my husband, Grant, proposed to me over twelve years ago. These were the good old days when it was all about us! Yep. That was pretty romantic and clever. Guess where he put the ring? It was dangling on a string from the outdoor thermometer of course. I just remember being in shock. I was very, very surprised.
Fast forward twelve years later and the picture is quite different. We all went to mass today and a nice couple spoke about a Catholic retreat for married couples. On the way home, I asked Grant if he would ever go with me to something like that. He smiled and lovingly said, "Do you think you could find someone else to go with you?" And then he laughed the hardest he's laughed in a long time. "Aw, I'm kidding. I'll look into it," he said. Ha! I won't hold my breath, I thought.

The one and probably only couples retreat we went on, was our Pre Cana. I'll never get husband to go again. I think that part of it stems from how Pre Cana was handled. The S*X talk (separating us into boys and girls - it was funny, we felt like we were in 4th grade).
I love the proposal in the snow! That's really cute!
Cute proposal. Mine proposed by making me shoot a target. Following you from Friday FOllows.
Awww, lovely picture! Its alwz good in the beginning but I find it gets better as you go along. Blessings to you and your loved ones! *smile*
Hey Mrs. Clean Freak, same to you. Thanks for stopping by.
Erin, I am surprised he didn't think of the target...we did go target shootin' once or twice.
Misadventuresofmomof3 our Pre Cana was pretty painless, we just went to this couple's house in the next town over for a few meetings. We survived! Thanks for your comments!
Hi Kristi,
I didn't know Grant proposed to you like that. That's so sweet! All of this reminded me of the movie my husband and I watched last night called "Couples Retreat." Did anybody see that?
That is incredibly romantic!
Oh how romantic and I know 12 years makes a difference...good memory

Thanks for the Friday Follow! I've been away for a bit, but now that I'm back, I'm following you back :-)
Thanks Kathrin. Glad you're here!
What a lovely photo, and good for him that he's even contemplating going to a retreat! I've been married for 30 years, and although we've talked about going to a couple's retreat - even looked at a number of possibilities online - it's never actually come about. Looking forward to reading a post about it, if you do end up going to one! :) I'm from TwitterMoms Follow Group, and I'm following you.
